Authenticity Over Approval: The Cure for Imposter Syndrome

We live in a world where everyone is performing—where likes, followers, and filters have become the new measure of worth. People are chasing approval instead of purpose. And somewhere along the line, we’ve forgotten the most powerful truth of all: nobody can be you like you can be you.
The Epidemic of Imposter Syndrome
According to a 2023 study by Harvard Business Review, over 70% of professionals experience imposter syndrome at some point in their careers. That means most of us, at one point or another, have felt like frauds—questioning whether we belong, whether we’re good enough, or whether our success is deserved.
Social media has made this worse. The American Psychological Association found that people who spend more than 3 hours a day on social platforms are 60% more likely to struggle with feelings of inadequacy and comparison.
We scroll and see people with perfect bodies, perfect families, perfect lifestyles—and we start to believe the lie that we’re behind or not enough.
But the truth is this: success is a process, not a performance. You can’t microwave purpose. God takes you through a process to prepare you for the promise.
The Biblical Truth About Authenticity
The Bible reminds us that our identity comes from God, not comparison.
Psalm 139:14 – “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Galatians 1:10 – “Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.”
You were handcrafted by God for a specific purpose. Trying to copy someone else’s assignment is the fastest way to forfeit your own.
Success Is a Process—Not a Shortcut
Every person you admire today had to start somewhere. Before the accolades, they endured the apprenticeship. Before the platform, they endured the process.
Don’t rush your process just because you’re comparing your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20.
Like gold, you have to go through the fire before you shine.
Like a seed, you have to be buried before you bloom.
Your process is part of your purpose.
The Remedy for Imposter Syndrome: Be Yourself
The cure to feeling like an imposter is to stop trying to be an imitation.
When you embrace who you are—your voice, your experiences, your story—you step into the kind of confidence that can’t be faked.
As for me, I’ve learned that my voice is my biggest asset.
I use my voice through my podcast.
I use my voice through writing.
I use my voice through videos and conversations.
You might be great at designing, teaching, building, leading, or encouraging—but whatever it is, use it. Focus on what you’re naturally gifted at and go all in.
Laser focus turns your gifts into greatness.
The Power of Authentic Living
When you stop chasing approval, you start living authentically.
And authentic people attract real opportunities.
People can sense when you’re walking in your true self—and they’re drawn to that. God blesses authenticity because it glorifies Him, not ego.
Remember this: you don’t need to be liked by everyone—you just need to be who God created you to be.
Building a Legacy Through Authenticity
Authenticity builds legacy. Because legacy isn’t about imitation—it’s about impact.
When you walk in truth, your children and those who follow you learn to do the same.
The world doesn’t need another copy—it needs the real you.
Because when you show up as your true self, you give others permission to do the same.
👉 It all starts with me, so Let It Be Legacy.
